Sahih Muslim, Hadith 591.

Dua after Salah helps Muslims seek Allah’s forgiveness, praise Him, and ask for His guidance. The Sunnah includes adhkar such as reciting Astaghfirullah three times and Allahumma Antas-Salam after prayer.

Abdullah ibn al-Zubair (RA) reported that the Prophet ﷺ used to recite this remembrance at the end of prayer after making Taslim.

Reference: Sahih Muslim 594.

This dhikr affirms Allah’s oneness and acknowledges His sovereignty, blessings, and power.

A reported supplication declares Allah’s oneness and acknowledges that He gives life and causes death.Due after salah

When practising a particular Sunnah count, use the count attached to its relevant narration rather than combining different versions.

8. Dua for Paradise and Protection From the Fire

References: Jami’ at-Tirmidhi 2572 and Sunan Ibn Majah 4340 for the related report about asking for Paradise and protection from the Fire.

The exact wording and repetition count should be checked against the specific narration. Do not assume that every version has the same prescribed number of repetitions after Salah.

9. Ayatul Kursi After Salah

Ayatul Kursi is verse 255 of Surah Al-Baqarah. It describes Allah’s oneness, everlasting life, complete knowledge, sovereignty, and power.

English translation:

Allah—there is no deity except Him, the Ever-Living, the Sustainer of all existence. Neither drowsiness overtakes Him nor sleep. To Him belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth. Who can intercede with Him except by His permission? He knows what is before them and what will be after them, and they encompass nothing of His knowledge except what He wills. His Kursi extends over the heavens and the earth, and their preservation does not tire Him. He is the Most High, the Most Great.

Quranic reference: Surah Al-Baqarah 2:255.

A report attributed to Abu Umamah (RA) mentions the virtue of reciting Ayatul Kursi after each obligatory prayer. Verify the exact hadith source and grading before publishing a detailed claim about its reward.

A separate narration in Sahih al-Bukhari 5010 mentions reciting Ayatul Kursi before sleeping. These are different contexts and should not be confused.Due after salah

A report from Abdullah ibn Khubaib (RA) describes reciting Surah Al-Ikhlas, Surah Al-Falaq, and Surah An-Nas three times in the morning and evening.

These are established morning and evening adhkar. Their timing should be distinguished from supplications specifically reported after every obligatory prayer.

11. Surah Al-Falaq

Surah Al-Falaq is the 113th chapter of the Quran. It teaches believers to seek Allah’s protection from various forms of evil.

English translation:

In the name of Allah, the Most Compassionate, the Most Merciful.

Say, “I seek refuge in the Lord of daybreak, from the evil of what He created, from the evil of darkness when it settles, from the evil of those who blow on knots, and from the evil of an envier when he envies.”

Quranic reference: Surah Al-Falaq 113:1–5.

Surah Al-Falaq is recited with Surah Al-Ikhlas and Surah An-Nas in the reported morning and evening remembrance. It is also included in the recitation reported before sleep.

12. Surah An-Nas

Surah An-Nas is the final chapter of the Quran. It teaches Muslims to seek refuge in Allah from the evil of the whisperer.

Qul a’udhu bi Rabbin-nas. Malikin-nas. Ilahin-nas. Min sharril-waswasil-khannas. Alladhi yuwaswisu fi sudurin-nas. Minal-jinnati wan-nas.

English translation:

In the name of Allah, the Most Compassionate, the Most Merciful.

Say, “I seek refuge in the Lord of mankind, the King of mankind, the God of mankind, from the evil of the retreating whisperer, who whispers into the hearts of mankind, from among jinn and mankind.”

Quranic reference: Surah An-Nas 114:1–6.

The Prophet ﷺ is reported to have recited the three protective chapters—Al-Ikhlas, Al-Falaq, and An-Nas—in the morning and evening and before sleeping.

References: Sunan Abi Dawud 5082; Sahih al-Bukhari 5017 for the before-sleep practice.

13. Durood-e-Ibrahimi

Durood-e-Ibrahimi is the well-known form of sending blessings upon Prophet Muhammad ﷺ and his family. It is established in the Sunnah as a recitation in the final Tashahhud of Salah.

Transliteration:

English translation:

O Allah, send Your blessings upon Muhammad and the family of Muhammad, as You sent Your blessings upon Ibrahim and the family of Ibrahim. Surely, You are Praiseworthy and Glorious.

O Allah, bless Muhammad and the family of Muhammad, as You blessed Ibrahim and the family of Ibrahim. Surely, You are Praiseworthy and Glorious.

Reference: Sahih al-Bukhari 3370.

Important note: This form of Durood is established in the final Tashahhud before the Taslim. It should not be presented as a specific post-Salah dhikr with a prescribed repetition count unless a separate reliable source establishes that practice.

How to Read Dua After Salah

You can use the following simple routine after completing an obligatory prayer:

  1. Finish Salah with Taslim.
  2. Say Astaghfirullah three times.
  3. Recite Allahumma Antas-Salam wa minkas-salam.
  4. Recite Allahumma a’inni ala dhikrika wa shukrika wa husni ibadatik.
  5. Recite established forms of dhikr, such as SubhanAllah, Alhamdulillah, and Allahu Akbar, following an authentic narrated count.
  6. Recite other supplications and Quranic passages according to the timing established for them.
  7. Make personal dua to Allah for forgiveness, guidance, and help.

The exact order and repetition counts should follow the relevant narrations. Morning and evening adhkar, before-sleep recitations, and the recitations inside Salah should be distinguished from dhikr specifically reported after obligatory prayers.

Conclusion

Dua after Salah gives Muslims an opportunity to seek forgiveness, remember Allah, express gratitude, and ask for His help. The Sunnah includes supplications such as Astaghfirullah, Allahumma Antas-Salam, and Allahumma a’inni ala dhikrika wa shukrika wa husni ibadatik, along with established forms of dhikr.Due after salah

Learning the Arabic text, pronunciation, and meaning of these supplications can help Muslims understand what they recite. Follow reliable Quranic and Hadith references, and distinguish between post-prayer adhkar, morning and evening remembrance, before-sleep recitations, and the recitations performed within Salah.
